Butler MO racing results and recap

The Racing Experience MOLS joined the SMRS/USAC midgets and the MSCA Sprint Cars on the very well prepared BMS track. Dan Chevalier and his crew did a great job on giving the racers a smooth track.

Heat 1

1^st 4 Beau Heavelow Independence, MO

2^nd 67 Rick Davis Corey, CO

3^rd z8 Zach Moorehead Grain Valley, MO

4^th 9 Chris Schofield Raymore, MO

7s Scott Allen of KC, KS did not start.

Zach led the first lap with Beau, Chris and Rick hot on his tail. Beau would get by Zac. Zac and Rick would have a great race for 2^nd. Beau would get the win, with Rick 2^nd, Zak 3^rd and Chris 4^th.

Heat 2

1^st 83g Matt Gilbert Merriam, KS

2^nd 15 Merrill Lamb Iola, KS

3^rd 9s Bird Schofield KC, MO

4^th 45 Kevin Rupard Belton, MO

1 Kendall Rupard of Grandview, MO did not start

Matt and Kevin would bring the cars down for the start. They would have a great race for 1^st on the opening rounds. Matt would finally take command. Merrill making his first start of the season would fight with Kevin for the runner up spot. Bird was just trying to get comfortable as this was his first time back in a racecar from 25 years ago. Matt would take the win, Merrill 2^nd, Bird 3^rd. Kevin would lose a chain in the final laps and pull out.

Chris, Kevin and Merrill all wanted to lead the 1^st lap but Kevin would take that honor. Scott and Kendall would get together on the 3^rd lap with Kendall getting upside down and Scott ending up without a nose wing and bent front axle. On the restart Matt would get by the Kevin and Merril. He would stay at the point until midway when Beau would start his battle for the top spot. This pair had a torrid race for the next 6 laps for 1^st. Beau would finally make a pass on Matt that Matt couldn’t get back. Rick was making his way to the front having a great battle with Merrill and Kevin. Scott was fighting an ill handling car but was hanging with group. Beau would get his first win of the year, Matt 2^nd, Rick 3^rd Merrill 4^th and Scott 5^th. Kevin would fall out on the next to last lap with that pesky chain coming off again.

The racing in The Racing Experience Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints is fiercely competitive. This year there are 10 of these drivers that can win on any night. With low cost maintenance and motorcycle power, this is still the most economical way to go fast in a race car. These cars a 1 second a lap faster than an A Mod or a Late Model.
